吾輩は瞑想している、午後の陽射しがとても心地よい。
ここは名も無き主のアパートである。リビングの窓際でやわらかい空気に包まれながら今後の方針について、いろいろと思案しているところなのであ～る。
今日は土曜日なので学園はお休みである。したがって名も無き主も家の中に居るのであるが、今日は朝から自室へと閉じ篭って何やらオンラインゲームに熱中しておるようだ。もちろん、夢中になっているのは先日届いたばかりの新作ゲーム『希望の搭』であ～る。
首の皮一枚繋がったという感じで何とか留年をまぬがれて気が緩んでしまったのであろうか、期末テストのことなどはもうすっかり頭の中からは消え去ってしまっているようである。それからと言うもの、学園内においては、スマホで例の美女学生へ熱心にリツイートと言う作業を行いながら、SNSでいかに自分が彼女と得意な仲であるかを必死にアピールしてみたり、家に帰って来てはそそくさとパソコンを立ち上げて例の新作ゲームを徹夜同然でやり込む日々が続いている。
どうやら新作ゲームの進捗状況もSNSで報告するのが日課になっているようで、先日もゲーム内のカジノにどっぷりハマリ込んだあげく7000万ギルも摩ってしまい、憔悴しきった表情でベッドに寝転がっている姿を自撮りして動画投稿サイトにアップしておられた。
SNS上では、たちまち哀れみのコメントとカンパが押し寄せ、人気急上昇中のブログとしてランキング入りを果たしたようである。
吾輩はその一部始終を名も無き主のそばでずっと観察していたのであるが、仮病にしてはなかなかの名演技であった。将来は名俳優になるやもしれぬ。
そして今日も、朝起きると同時に吾輩をベッドから蹴落とし、「今日こそは第七階層まで登ってアズナちゃんと結婚するんだ」などと宣言をしてから、吾輩にお昼ご飯を与えるのも忘れてオンラインゲームに夢中になっている次第なのであ～る。
吾輩がお昼ご飯をがまんすることで名も無き主がアズナちゃんと結婚出来るのであれば、喜んで我慢してあげるのであるが、どうも事はそう単純ではなさそうである。と言うのも、先ほどのことなのであるが、いいかげんお昼ご飯を催促しようかと名も無き主の部屋へ入ろうとしたら、丁度トイレに行くためにリビングへと出てきた名も無き主とバッタリ鉢合わせしてしまった。そして吾輩と視線が交差するや否や、「チッ、黒田め。いよいよ本性を現して来やがったぜ」などと殺意のこもった謎の台詞を吐き捨てると、そのままプイッと行き過ぎてしまった。
どうやら只事ではない何かが起こってしまったようである。
何となく恐ろしい毛配を感じたので、吾輩はそのままベランダの方へ舞い戻り瞑想に耽ることにした。アズナちゃんとのお見合いが御破談にならないことを静かに祈ることにいたそう。
それにしてもお腹が空いたにゃあ。朝から何も食べていないのであるからなおさらである。このままでは夜のご飯も抜きになってしまうのではないであろうか、不安が脳裏に浮かぶと同時にふと思い出した。
今日は例のネコネコ団集会の日である。名も無き主におねだりしなくても御馳走にありつけるではないかぁ。そう考えると、みるみる体に元気が沸いてくるのを感じる、先程まで空腹感ばかりであったお腹のムシもピタリと鳴き止んだ。むしろ今では晩餐を思う存分楽しんでやろうと言う気概と共に水一滴すら口にはするまいと言う、信念にも似た固い決意が沸いてきた。
